Lullaby for the Spirits (Boy's Perspective):

I pray that you guys had a wonderful Christmas! Here's my gift and as always, I hope you guys will enjoy. This is part 2 of "Lullaby for the Spirits," more specifically, the boy's perspective (the first one that was released couple months ago was the girl's perspective). You will notice that both the girl's and the boy's perspective share the same title (both the album's and the track titles). This release marks the closing of the story.

This album is based on my attempt at constructing a relationship with a girl that came to an abrupt end, prematurely. Because I've poured out my heart into this relationship, when it was over, I was absolutely devastated. I've foolishly idolized her and failed to guard my heart, for had I been more cautious, this year would not have been such a crap storm.

There were lots of confusions and uncertainties in her heart and to settle what we should do for good, we came to an agreement to fast from talking to each other for a month, but instead, write a short message to each other, every day, for the entire month of December, on a small journal we've bought for each other. At the end of the year (2016), we said that we would exchange our notebooks and see where our relationship will head on from there. Sadly, our relationship didn't work out and we've decided to part ways.

In mid-late January of 2017, I received her notebook in the mail like she's promised. I began to read page after page and it was exciting. The first couple of pages contained words of excitement, willingness, and positivity, but as I got around day 15-20, I could begin to feel her troubled heart, I wanted to stop reading, but I've promised myself that I would push through to see why we ended things the way we did and finally, I got to the very last page of the journal and I just sat in my chair, staring at my wall for an hour, with a blank expression.

We know how these stories usually go, so I won't bore you with the details; however, this event, as painful as it was, inspired me to start on a project. Lullaby for the Spirit tells a story from both party's perspective: one from her's and one from mine. There's a theme to each track in the album that relates to what has happened to us. The album is about embracing "what could be" to "what could have been." I wanted to start telling the story from her perspective, since telling from my perspective would be easy...

I wanted to be honest and tell the story how it was. Obviously, I am not her and because of this, her perspective of the story can't be 100% accurate, but I wanted to at least get close to 100%. So I went back to our text messages, our emails, the journals, etc. to relive the moment one last time. It was suffocating, it was a miserable experience, but I wanted to finish the story as strong as I've started.

So, without further ado, here's the last chapter of our story, "Lullaby for the Spirits," a.k.a. my perspective.
